Breaking the rules

Perfectie is saai, perfectie is dood. Hoera voor het imperfecte fine art portret.

Verlaten (abandoned)

A series of 20 unique works out of my project ‘Verlaten (abandoned)’, a project by artist Paul van Bueren about that moment someone is leaving you a childhood memory relived over and over again and transferred into Fine Art Portraits.

All Portraits are shot on Fomapan 400 film using a Cambo SC-1 4x5” Technical Camera.

Prints are 50x63 cm on Fine Art Baryta Paper using a Epson Stylus Pro 11880 Printer.

Mounted on 2mm dibond and framed in a black frame frame, finished with a black wooden panel at the back and ready to hang.

All works are one of a kind, there will be no second print. All works will be signed and delivered with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Looking for a new Print Partner

I have started a search for a new print partner, one who is reliable and can deliver the highest quality of digital prints: Glicée

I started a search close to home, but it turns out, there is not one Printer capable of making these kind of prints in Zeeland, or I haven’t found them.

So I have let go of the ‘local area’ factor that defines my search. I have selected three printers and I have reached out to them. Next point in the agenda is to order prints and start comparing on quality of the print, delivery time and other things.

I will keep you up to date of my search and I am thinking of allot some of the prints, so keep an eye on my blog!

Owning my own Platform

Since I decide to leave Facebook and Instagram behind, due to several reasons, mostly because they have way to much power and influence, I am getting the feeling I own my own Platform and content again: my website.

I can do what I want I, want I can say what I want, I even can show Artistic Fine Art Nudes without blurring a female nipple. Which is a discussion of it’s own. We still live in a male dominant world.

Yes it is way more difficult to reach viewers and readers. I am aware it is a long term process to be and be and stay sustainable and visible.

Therefore I am working on my website everyday to improve to feel connected to my works and my viewers and buyers. Talking about buyers. Selling art is still the biggest challenge. My book is coming soon. That will be project of it’s own and the subject will sell itself. My other artworks are somewhat harder to sell.

Take the tour in the shop and tell me what you see. Do you have tips to sell my artworks?

General Update

Currently building my darkroom. It is much more challenging than I had in mind. Basics are in there, now I need to have running water. I have an idea how to manage that without destroying doors and things. After that I need to blind the windows. There are several interesting solutions. Still open for suggestions and ideas. I am planning to have my darkroom running at the end of the first quarter of 2019!

Last week I had a meeting about my book. The first print shop ruined the complete batch of 250. So I don't trust anyone at the moment. We had a good talk and they everything to gain my trust. Downpart is the printshop is over 300kilomters away. So I need a whole day to stop by for anything book related. This book will also be ready in the first quarter of 2019!

Planning new shoots to make new Fine Art Portraits. My project 'Homo Anonymous' does work but I need a different approach. Prints are for sale, contact me about the options. So I will be looking for new ways. Sales are very low at the moment. Currently having my project 'Verlaten' (abadoned) for sale. Please take a look in the shop. Let me know what you think.
